NPR Puzzle -- Changing Jobs, Will? Really?

Here's this week's puzzle:
Think of a familiar two-word phrase, five letters in each word. The second word starts with P. The phrase names something that is nice to have after dinner. Change the P to an S, and you'll get another familiar phrase that names something that's nice to have before you start a job. What phrases are these?
Hmm. We're pretty sure we've solved this one, but the answers -- while doubtless the ones intended -- seem odd, almost Zen.  Both phrases have literal and figurative meanings, but while the first phrase (the one with the second word starting P) has a obvious connection with dinner, the second one just strikes us as an odd thing to be thinking about before a new job.  As I say, though, they're obviously right.

So -- who's snowed in then?  We're not.  We actually got less snow than we normally get with lake effect stuff drifting down from western New York State.  Don't worry, our snow day will come.  And in the meantime, here's a snowy picture from October in sympathy with those of you shoveling out today.

I hope you all have a wonderful time playing in the snow!  (And everyone else?  Be glad your car isn't under a foot of the white stuff...)

Although we have lots more snow than usual - I'm (yes, just me) not snowed in. After all I grew up in Austria, and a little over a foot of the fluffy white stuff really doesn't faze me.

So, this puzzle was fun: I was coincidentally watching the Law & Order episode that corresponds to the answer, thus it was a gimme.

A recent L&O, or a rerun? I have a few of the more recent L&O's saved up on my DVR, so I'm hoping it's one of those. If it is, I'll think of you when I watch it.

I agree -- for an Austrian, this is nothing.
